Renee, with clinical experience for over 34 years, has been teaching university courses on Autism Spectrum Disorder,Counselling in Communication Disorders, Clinical Practice in Speech-Language Pathology and Supporting Preschool Children with Special Educational Needs in Hong Kong. Previously, she worked at the school board in Toronto, Canada as the first Chinese speech-language pathologist to provide consultation to teachers and parents about school-age children’s academic and language development. Speaking Cantonese as her first language, she had the personal experience of learning different languages (i.e., English, Mandarin and Japanese) and speaking them fluently. Therefore, she is very familiar with the issues of general language, communication and multilingual development and acquisition.  As a special education consultant, a speech-language pathologist, a counselor and a linguist specializing in language learning and language development in bilingual and multilingual children, Renee has assessed and helped numerous children from various ethnic backgrounds and with different abilities or disorders (e.g., learning disability, mild to severe developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, Williams Syndrome, Fetal Alcoholic Syndrome, Disorder, Selective Mutism etc.) to enhance their communication and language learning abilities, as well as reading and writing skills for success in school. With her counselling training, she has provided practical suggestions and management strategies to teachers, parents, young adults, youths and children as well. 

Renee received her Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in Education at the University of East Anglia (UEA), U.K. on understanding the experience of students with language and communication problems in cross-cultural contexts.

Renee began her training of Linguistics (B.A.) from the International Christian University (ICU) in Tokyo, Japan, and then Speech-Language Pathology (M.Sc.) from the University of Hawaii, U.S.A. and Counselling (M.Ed.) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
